This comes from another el cheapo raid from the quick sale shelves of Cold Storage. Perfectly good stuff that's expired but still good to eat!
Waitrose Potato & Leek Soup in a Cup Review
Reduced to clear! My favorite words in Cold Storage |
Nutritional information if you're interested. |
Very utilitarian packaging. Thoughtfully labelled too in case someone opens multiple boxes of different soup types |
A little clumpy |
Add a bit of water first to get it into a thick paste first |
Then add more water. Though I think I bungled this. |
Some rocket to spice things up! |
Taste Review
Taste - 8/10
It's got a good potato and leek flavor. Very strong, very well balanced. The leek flavors are bright and comes through the potato soup base well. I can also taste the chives in there too. It's a pretty good blend of flavors.
Texture - 7/10
I think I made it properly cos the soup was quite uniform. It's not exactly smooth and silky but it wasn't lumpy either. There are nice chunky leek bits in there that adds a nice green touch.
Cost - 8/10
Well the original cost would have been $4.35 for 4 packets, So that's ~$1 per soup. This ain't bad. But getting this on fire sale is even better! *pats own back.
Tasting Notes
I'd say the taste is pretty good. It certainly beats other artificial tasting soups like the you-know-which-brand. When you consider the amount of work that needs to go into making soups like these... I'd gladly pay the $1. If you have some croutons, then you've elevated this to restaurant level quality without the arm and leg they'd charge too for some sad soppy soup mix.
TLDR version
Save time, get this soup when you need soup.
